🍲 Food Assistance and Resource Guide

Food insecurity impacts more than 96,000 Fairfax County residents. There are many resources available to support those who need food assistance. Learn how to help these families and the many resources available to support those who need food assistance on Fairfax County’s website or view the county’s Human Services Resource Guide.

⛄Student and Family Resources

Fairfax County Public Schools has compiled a list of resources for students and families in case they need assistance while schools are closed for winter break. Please visit FCPS’ winter resources webpage for information on academic support, mental health support, and county resources related to food, clothing, housing, and other needs.

School’s Closed, Learning Can Continue!

FCPS encourages students to take advantage of fun learning opportunities during winter break and snow days. Consider these winter activities to blend education and play for your students during winter break or weather-related school closures.

❄️ Preparing for Winter Weather

Winter weather will be here before you know it! Watch this video to see how weather-related closing decisions are made.

FCPS’ website is generally the first place to find out about emergency weather closings. Other communication channels will be used as quickly as possible including email, text, social media, and news stations. Learn more about how schedule changes are communicated

Be sure to plan for the winter season. Update your contact information in SIS ParentVUE, bookmark the FCPS website, and arrange for childcare if needed.

Keep Your Child Warm During Outdoor Activities

We will monitor the weather for low temperatures, wind chill advisories and warnings, and weather advisories which may prevent children from being outside. Make sure your child is dressed appropriately with a warm coat and other cold-weather clothing, so they can comfortably enjoy their time outdoors. Principal's Message

Hello Forest Edge Families and Community!

Happy Thanksgiving Week! 🦃

This time of year is an opportunity to reflect on all that we are thankful for, and our school community is certainly at the top of that list. Families, your support, involvement, and dedication to our school make all the difference. Whether it's volunteering your time, supporting your child’s learning, or partnering with us to create a nurturing environment, you help build the foundation for our students' success.

As we celebrate this season of thanks, I hope you take time to enjoy the company of loved ones and find moments of peace and joy. Together, we are creating something special for our children—a community that values kindness, hard work, and the power of learning.

Thank you for everything you do to support our school. Wishing you and your family a wonderful, restful, and gratitude-filled Thanksgiving.

Have a safe and joyful holiday! 🥧🍂

AAP Referral Workshop

Mark your calendars! Mrs. Hanson will be hosting an AAP Referral Workshop to guide parents through the AAP Referral Process, including tips for completing the referral form, parent questionnaire, and selecting potential home work samples. Join us on Tuesday, December 3rd, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM in the Forest Edge Elementary Cafeteria. This is a great opportunity to get all your questions answered before the AAP Referral Deadline on December 15th. We look forward to supporting you in this important step for your child!

Here is an overall review of what to expect.

  1. Any student wishing to have a retake should bring their original picture package to exchange for the retake image.
  2. When an order is placed online, the parent/guardian will receive a camera pass via email. This can be printed and brought to picture day. The photographer will photograph the printed camera pass along with the student.
  3. If a student is not able to print their camera pass, that is not a problem. We will match up the student to their order manually in the production process.
  4. A parent may order from the flyer up until 24 hours after picture day. After 24 hours, the online ordering access may close. This will allow our imaging team to "Pull" all orders submitted and match them with the students photographed.
  5. When pictures are returned to school, all students that purchased pictures will receive their prepaid package. Any student that was photographed but did not order a package, will receive a "Proof" (PX) of their picture that was taken on picture day.

All proof packages offer parents a second opportunity to order prints. All orders are subject to shipping and handling costs of up to $8.50 and will be shipped directly to home.

Hello Forest Edge Families and Community!

What an amazing week we've had! 🌟 Huge thanks to our incredible PTA for hosting a fantastic Movie Night last Friday—fun, food, and fabulous company made it a night to remember! 🎬🍿 This week we had our first schoolwide morning meeting led by our Student Ambassadors. We were so proud of their planning and leadership as they delivered this fun opportunity to our students and staff. During our Thanksgiving Luncheon we celebrated togetherness, and families coming together to enjoy a delicious feast. 🦃❤️ A big shout-out to our fourth graders, who had an awesome adventure in Jamestown, diving into the history of the first settlers. 🏕️📜

As a reminder, Thanksgiving Break is from Wednesday November 27-Friday November 29. We are looking forward to seeing all of our Eagles back in school on Monday, December 2.

When we return, we will kick off our book fair! The book fair will run from December 2-6. Additionally, we will host literacy night on December 4. Come out for food, fun, and learning!

Student Feedback Opportunity for FCPS Cell Phone Policy and SR&R

FCPS is working with K12 Insight to host a community forum for families, staff members, and students to provide feedback on the school division’s cell phone policies and practices, and the Student Rights and Responsibilities (SR&R) document. FCPS is looking for more student participants (grades 3-12) to help ensure diverse perspectives from our community.

The community forum will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 6:30-8 p.m., at the Willow Oaks Administrative Center. If your student is interested in providing feedback, please visit the Cell Phone Policy Forum registration page to learn more. Families must register their child by Monday, November 25.

Social and Emotional Learning Screener Results Coming Soon

One of the ways FCPS supports the mental wellness of all students is through the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener. In October, students in grades 3-12 took this screener, which gives information about their skills such as achieving goals, handling emotions, building relationships with adults and peers, and making good choices.

The screener also helps students evaluate their school community’s efforts to make them feel valued, included, and supported. Screener data is used to create learning, experiences, and environments for students to succeed.

In early December, families will be able to view student SEL Screener results in SIS ParentVUE. For families who do not have an active ParentVUE account, results will be sent by mail.

Learn more about the screener on the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener webpage. For help understanding your child’s results or ideas to support them at home, review the Family Guide or contact us.

Register for ParentVUELearn how to activate your ParentVUE account, so you can easily access your child’s results and other helpful information.

Principal's Message

Hello Forest Edge Families and Community!

This week has been filled with excitement and connection at school! The Fall Festival was a blast, and the kids loved every bit of it—from the cake walk to the fun temporary tattoos and creative crafts! Huge thanks to our wonderful PTA for putting together such a fantastic event. 🌟

Our teachers also had a productive half-day Team Planning session, using the time to discuss student data and prepare for an amazing second quarter. And as we move into Parent-Teacher Conference season, it's a great time for families to connect with teachers. If you haven't yet signed up for a conference, please reach out to your child’s teacher to set up a time. 😊

📍 Boundary Review Community Meetings Start This Month

As a reminder, FCPS has started the process of reviewing school boundaries across the division. This important work will help the district better support student population growth, changes in school capacity, and evolving community needs. Community input is vital to this process. With that in mind, FCPS, in partnership with Thru Consulting, will be hosting a series of community meetings in each of FCPS’ six regions. Participants are encouraged to share their thoughts, ask questions, and learn more about the boundary review process.

Please visit FCPS’ website for meeting dates, locations, and other information. Sign up for the School Boundary Review newsletter for updates.

IEP Palooza and Community Resource Fair

Parents/caregivers, school staff, and students over the age of 14 are invited to attend an interactive event celebrating the individualized education program (IEP) process. The IEP Palooza and Community Resource Fair will take place on Saturday, November 16, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at Jackson Middle School.

Services for Hearing-Impaired and Visually-Impaired Students

Students with sensory disabilities require specialized services and support to access instruction that is typically presented visually and auditorily (by means of hearing). FCPS provides educational services to students who are deaf, hearing-impaired, or visually impaired. They are supported in various settings, including at their school or through itinerant specialists who travel to different schools to work with students, rather than being based in a single school. Learn more about Services for Students Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing and Services for Students Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired.

Visit the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) website for Resources for Serving Students with Sensory Disabilities.

Tutoring Resources for Families

Is your family looking for resources to help support your child’s academic success? FCPS’ Family Resource Center (FRC) maintains a list of district employees who hold a valid Virginia teaching credential and who are available to be hired as a tutor by parents. FRC maintains this list, but families are responsible for contacting and working directly with tutors. This list is not “approved” by FCPS and is only meant as a resource.

FCPS also partners with Varsity Tutors to provide students and families with extra resources for learning. Every student can take advantage of Varsity Tutors' services at no cost, including weekly live online classes, on demand 24/7 chat tutoring, essay editing, study resources such as recorded content, practice problems, and diagnostic tests.

FCPS’ 2023-30 Strategic Plan Goal 3: Academic Growth and Excellence, reminds us of our commitment to supporting each and every student and helping them meet or exceed high academic standards.

Return Your Federal Impact Aid Survey

FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available online in SIS ParentVUE. If you have not already filled out the form online, we will provide paper forms in November. Please be sure to return them by Friday, November 17

Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important, because information from this survey resulted in more than $4 million in funding last year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.

Please watch this video and visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page for more information.

Need to Register for ParentVUE?

Learn how to activate your SIS ParentVUE account, so you can easily submit your survey.

Technical support for using ParentVUE or completing the survey online is available by submitting a Parent Support Request ticket. Principal's Message

Hello Forest Edge Families and Community!

What a fantastic week we've had! Our 5th graders enjoyed a virtual visit with the amazing Jason Reynolds, the author of Ghost. It was inspiring to hear from such a talented writer!

Spirit Week was a hit! We kicked things off on Monday with cozy PJ day, followed by Twin Tuesday—what a sight to see! Wednesday was all about sports teams, and Thursday took the cake with an incredible parade of book characters. Our students showcased their creativity in such fun ways!

Thank you for all your support in making this week memorable!

Family Life Education: Grades 4 - 6

October 31, 2024

Dear Parents/Guardians of Elementary School Students:

Students in grades K-6 participate in Family Life Education (FLE) instruction through their classroom teacher. Students in Kindergarten through grade three receive instruction in an emotional and social health unit.

Students in grades 4-6 receive instruction in a human growth and development unit and an emotional and social health unit. For more information about the FCPS Family Life Education program, please see the detailed grade-level program descriptions at https://www.fcps.edu/academics/elementary-family-life-education-fle.

In addition, grade level-specific curriculum lessons are available for review in multiple locations.

  • Online in Schoology - includes lessons and media titles that FCPS has streaming rights for. Any additional media or book titles that are not streamed are available at your child’s school library.
    • Parents/guardians login to Schoology using the same username and password as their Student Information System (SIS) Parent account.
  • Your child’s school. Please contact the school to schedule a time to review lessons and/or media.
  • City of Fairfax Regional Library – lessons only.  Media is not available.

You are invited to attend an evening opportunity to preview the Family Life Education media and lessons and to talk with school staff about the program. The meeting will be held on November 19, 2024 at 6:30 PM in the library. All program materials and media for all grade levels will be available for your review at this time.

Parents/guardians who do not wish to have their child participate in FLE instruction may choose to opt their child out of any or all of the lessons. If you would like to opt your child out of one or more lessons, please fill out the form provided to you in your child’s orientation packet at the beginning of the school year or you may access the opt out forms online at https://www.fcps.edu/academics/elementary-family-life-education-fle. If you have already indicated your desire to opt your child out of FLE lessons by using the form provided earlier in the school year, you do not need to complete another form. Should you opt your child out and then later decide you want your child included in FLE instruction, you must notify your child’s school principal in writing before instruction begins.

An alternative non-FLE health instructional program is provided for children who do not take part in FLE instruction, and every effort is made to foster understanding and respect for family choices and to avoid peer pressure for or against participation in the program.

Instruction of the instructional units occurs at various times during the school year. Please contact your child’s teacher for specific dates of FLE instruction. We look forward to working as your partner in providing information that will help your child make healthy choices related to the exciting changes and new challenges he/she will be facing in the next few years.

Sincerely,

Dr. Brittany Rogers

Principal

Elementary School Language Arts Grading Updates

Our teachers have been hard at work teaching with the new Language Arts curriculum, and we are excited to help all of our students become strong readers and writers! This year we also have new assessments, which is how we check if your student needs extra help with reading and writing, and new Standards of Learning (SOLs).

Because of these changes, we are now teaching all of the Language Arts skills your child needs to know (and checking if they need extra help) throughout the whole school year, instead of different skills each quarter. While these skills will be new to your child in the beginning of the year, the goal is for your child to grow strong in all of their new skills by the end of the year.

This means that when you get your child’s progress report next month, it might look different. Your child’s teacher will give you more information on the new progress reporting and how we’re making sure your child is getting any extra help they might need. You can also find more information on FCPS’ Grading and Reporting webpage.

We will also have new ways for you to help your child practice their reading and writing skills at home. These resources are coming soon!

Select SISParent in the Application dropdown menu and type Federal Impact Aid Survey under Issue Description. Or, call the Parent Technology Help Desk at 833-921-3277 (833-921-FCPS).

Hello Forest Edge Families and Community!

We had an exciting week at Forest Edge, filled with enriching experiences for our students!

  • ST Math visited our school, where students in some classes completed engaging puzzle talks with ST Math experts. It was a fun and educational session that sparked curiosity and problem-solving skills!

  • Our partnership with Our Kids Read continued as they made their second visit, generously donating books to students in grades 3-6. A special thank you to Microsoft for making this possible—our students are thrilled to have new reading materials!

  • In addition, some of our students completed CogAT testing this week, which helps assess their abilities and identify areas for further growth.

It’s been a week of learning, giving, and excitement, and we’re proud of all our students for their enthusiasm and participation. Thank you for your continued support!

Celebrating the Power of School Lunches

Multiple studies show that school lunches are important in supporting overall student health by improving students’ diets and combating food insecurity. Students who eat school lunches consume more fruit, vegetables, and fiber than their peers.

This School Lunch Week, FCPS Food and Nutrition Services reminds families that they are dedicated to providing flavorful, healthy, sustainable, and student-focused meals. Also, new menu items have been launched this year based on student feedback.

Want to know what’s for breakfast or lunch? Nutrition Services now has printable menus.

Hello Forest Edge Families and Community!

We had a wonderful week at Forest Edge! Even though the rain kept us indoors for recess, we still found plenty of ways to have fun together.

Wishing a Happy Rosh Hashanah to those who celebrate!

Just a reminder: Thursday and Friday are student holidays. Enjoy the long weekend and the beautiful weather with your children. We can’t wait to see them on Monday!

🗓️ Attendance Tip: Scheduling Family Trips or Events

Good attendance is an important life skill that will help students succeed in school and beyond.

When planning trips or family events, refer to the FCPS calendar and try to use weekends and school holidays. Every day of learning is a day toward success. Keep in mind that absences add up quickly. Students absent 10% of the school year (or just two days per month) are considered chronically absent.

When possible, schedule appointments for your child outside of school hours. If your child needs to miss school because of an illness or another reason, you must report the absence.

Watch this video with tips on understanding the FCPS school year calendar and visit the Attendance webpage for additional information. Attend today, achieve tomorrow!

🤒 When a Student Should Stay Home From School

Whether students miss school because of illness or any other reason, missing school leads to learning loss.

Help your child succeed by encouraging them to attend as many days as possible, but do make sure your child stays home if they are sick. Visit our website for information on when to keep your child at home.

If your child has a chronic illness, make sure to notify their teacher so that assistance can be provided if needed. Keep an open line of communication with your school's public health staff.

Read about how families can help form good attendance habits. Attend today, achieve tomorrow!

Gun Safety and Safe Gun Storage

Providing students and staff with a safe educational environment remains our priority. Sadly, gun violence continues to impact schools and communities across our nation.

In FCPS, lessons on gun safety are built into our curriculum. It is critical that parents and guardians talk to their children about the importance of gun safety and safe gun storage in their homes, and in any home they may visit.

The FCPS website has gun safety resources as well as information about safety and security practices at schools. See Dr. Reid’s recent letter to the community for more resources.

Safely Store Firearms and Medications

The Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board has a limited supply of free locking medication boxes and trigger locks that fit a wide variety of firearms. Visit the Lock and Talk website to learn more.

It's been a great week at FEES! Earlier this week we held our first Advanced Academics Parent Information Session. During this meeting Mrs. Hanson, our Advanced Academics Resource Teacher, shared about the varying levels of service. Our next Advanced Academics Parent Information session will be held on October 22.

Additionally, we had our first PTA meeting on Tuesday. It was great to see so many of our families come out and learn about the PTA goals and plans for the school year. We would love to see more families join. Please mark your calendars for our next meeting on October 22, 2024 at 7:00 in the library.

Lastly, our first Early Release of the school year will be on Monday, September 23. Students will be dismissed at 12:35 PM. Some families have indicated that their child will be staying at school until the normal dismissal time at 3:35. We are encouraging all families to stick to their dismissal choice so that we can provide effective monitoring of all students. Thank you for your cooperation!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Dr. Brittany Rogers, Principal

Students to Be Surveyed on Social-Emotional Learning

FCPS is committed to supporting the mental wellness of all students. The Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener helps our students share their perspectives on how their schools and communities support them and help them develop the skills they need to succeed.

The screener is offered to all students in grades 3 through 12 in the fall and spring. It addresses skills such as achieving goals, understanding and managing emotions, establishing and maintaining relationships with adults and peers, and making responsible decisions. Students also share how successful their school and community are at making them feel valued, included, and supported. Screener data is used to plan programming for the division, schools, and individual students.

After each screening, results will be available in the Documents tab of SIS ParentVUE and mailed to families who don’t have a ParentVUE account. For more information, please visit the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener webpage.

Families who wish to opt their child out may do so by completing the opt-out form in the Annual Notice packet or SIS ParentVUE. For more information, please visit the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener webpage or contact our front office.

Please note that the SEL Screener is not the same as the anonymous Fairfax County Youth Survey, which will take place later this fall.

Supporting Your Child’s Mental Health

Children go through a lot of changes, and it can be hard to tell if their behavior is developmentally appropriate or if they could benefit from mental health support. It’s important to talk to your child and pay attention to their actions, especially these warning signs:

  • Increased irritability, hyperactivity, energy, and/or aggressive behavior.
  • Excessive sadness, hopelessness, or worries.
  • Loss of appetite, or significant weight gain or loss.
  • Lack of sleep or too much sleep.
  • A decline in grades, school avoidance, or attendance concerns.
  • Alcohol or drug use.
  • Withdrawal from activities and/or friends and family.
  • Thoughts of harming themselves or others.

If you notice any of these warning signs or feel your child may be experiencing a mental health challenge, help is available. Please contact Sarah Zamfir (school counselor), Catherine Campane (school social worker) or Bruce Manise (school psychologist) at 703-925-8000, to discuss your concerns and identify resources. Find additional ways to support your child’s wellness

If you or someone you care about is experiencing a mental health crisis such as thoughts of harming themselves or others, please take action right away. Call 988, go to the nearest emergency room, or contact the Sharon Bulova Center for Community Health Emergency Services at 703-573-5679.

🩹 Immunization Requirements

Please check with your healthcare provider as soon as possible to make sure your child is up to date on the immunizations required by the state of Virginia. Starting Monday, September 30, students who have not provided proof of immunization will not be allowed to attend school.

You may check your child’s immunization compliance and submit their immunization record in SIS ParentVUE. Records may also be delivered to [SCHOOL NAME] front office.

Alternative immunization documents (below) may also be provided, but they may not be uploaded in ParentVUE:

  • A healthcare provider’s written statement of a permanent or temporary medical exemption.
  • A notarized Religious Exemption form objecting to the administration of immunizations due to conflicts with religious tenets or practices.

Find more information on immunizations.

✨ The 2023-30 Strategic Plan — Goal 3: Academic Growth and Excellence

FCPS’ 2023-30 Strategic Plan sets five main goals to create positive change in the division. These goals show where we should focus our attention and will help us align our efforts.

Our third goal is for all students to achieve academic growth and excellence. We want our students to have the academic skills to be successful. For example, making sure they are readers by third grade and taking courses that challenge them throughout their education will help prepare them for lifelong success. See how Goal 3 is being put into practice.

📋 Permission Forms

Families can easily grant permission for their children to access a variety of school resources through the Parent Digital Consent system. Parents can opt their child in or out of resources including online educational tools, school counseling services, and tutoring services. Student Safety - Lockdown Drill (practice) Conducted Today

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Every school in Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) has a crisis management and emergency preparedness plan in place. Keeping students and staff safe is a priority. We practice a number of safety drills throughout the school year, including lockdown drills which helps us know what to do if there is a potentially violent intruder inside the school or on school property.

Today, our school conducted a lockdown drill and teachers talked to students to prepare them for the drill.

I am very proud of our students today. They listened to directions and the drill was conducted in a calm and orderly fashion. Our students did a great job, and I encourage you to discuss the drill with them.  Additional guidance on discussions with your child about lockdown drills can be found in the Parent/Guardian tip letter, as well as on the frequently asked questions (FAQs) page.

Our emergency preparedness plans have been developed in coordination with the FCPS Office of Safety and Security, local law enforcement, emergency management officials, and FCPS mental health professionals. The plans are regularly reviewed and updated and include procedures on how to respond to critical incidents such as fires, tornadoes, and other events. Students and staff regularly practice safety drills.

I will continue to keep you informed of safety and security measures in place at our school. If you have questions, please call or contact the school office.  I appreciate your continued support in these matters.

Sincerely,

Ashley Fisher

Student Safety - Practice Lockdown Drill

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Providing a safe and supportive school environment is our number one priority. One of the ways we do this is by regularly reviewing and updating our school crisis management and emergency preparedness plans. Plans include how to respond to a variety of incidents such as fires, severe weather events, and other emergencies. It is critical to have safety drills each year so that our students and staff remember what to do if there is an emergency.

Virginia Law also requires schools to complete two lockdown drills a year, one within the first twenty days of the school session, and to notify parents/caregivers at least 24 hours in advance. We are not required to share the exact date and time of the drill. FCPS lockdown drills do not include any type of scenario training.

We will conduct a lockdown drill at our school soon.

Additional information including parent tips and FAQs can be found on the Emergency Planning and Crisis Response web page. After reviewing this information, it would be helpful to have a talk with your child about safety and school procedures. Below are some tips that can help frame your conversation:

  • Ask your child what they know about the drill, and how they feel about it.
  • Avoid scary and/or graphic details from the media.
  • Discuss that practicing how to be safe in a variety of situations is important because it helps to give them the confidence and knowledge to be safe.
  • Let them know it is okay to have feelings about the drill and that you and adults at their school are there to help them be safe and listen if they would like to talk more.

There will be school mental health staff available at your child’s school to help students with concerns around the lockdown drill. If you have questions, please reach out to the school.

Keeping our school safe and secure for all students and staff involves the participation of the entire school community, and we thank you for your help to keep our school safe.

Sincerely,

Ashley Fisher

Hello Forest Edge Families and Community!

We were so excited to see everyone at Back to School Night this week! During Back to School Night teachers focused on sharing instructional practices with families in light of the recent changes to FCPS curriculum and resources. During our Admin session we were able to talk more about our theme for this school year, SOARing Together. This year our students and staff will focus on safety, ownership, awareness, and respect.

This afternoon we are excited to support South Lakes High School during their homecoming parade! We have over 100 Forest Edge Eagles joining us for the parade! So exciting! If you would like to join us, please meet us at the Hunter's Woods Shopping Center around 4:30. Let's show our EAGLE PRIDE!

On Tuesday, we will have two important meetings for families. We will have our Advanced Academics Parent Overview meeting on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at 5:30 PM. This meeting is open to all families interested in learning more about the Advanced Academics program at Forest Edge! Immediately following this meeting, we will have our first PTA Meeting of the year at 7:00 PM. We are looking forward to connecting with families during both of these meetings!

Lastly, we are asking that families complete this brief survey to help us plan for future parent coffees. We are interested in learning what topics are most important to you as we navigate this school year together!

Bringing Toys to School

Over the past few weeks we've noticed several toys, stuffed animals, and playing cards being brought to school. As a reminder, all toys, stuffed animals, and playing cards should remain at home to avoid these items being lost or damaged.

Chorus Students

Get ready for some show-stopping fun! All 4th, 5th, and 6th graders in chorus will meet Mondays and Wednesdays in the music room from 8:35am until 9:10am when they are released to class. There will be two concerts this year (times & dates to be announced). One concert before winter break, and one concert at the start of June. ~Musically, Mrs. Heckenkamp [email protected]

🍽️ Fueling Student Success: New Food Options Cooked up at FCPS

Students will have more than a dozen new options for lunch and breakfast in school cafeterias  starting this week. New menu items were either favorites at last year’s food show — including Korean BBQ wings, sweet Thai chili wings, chicken tikka masala, and barbacoa street tacos — or were tested with student focus groups and tastings.

View school menus to see all the new options and when they will become available.

✨ The 2023-30 Strategic Plan — Goal 2: Safe, Supported, Included, Empowered

The Office of Food and Nutrition Services' updates to lunch menus align with FCPS’ Strategic Plan Goal #2 - Safe, Supported, Included, and Empowered. The new menu options reflect the many voices and cultures represented around every FCPS lunch table!

FCPS’ 2023-30 Strategic Plan sets five main goals to create positive change in the division. These goals show where we should focus our attention and will help us align our efforts.

As part of the second goal, we want each and every student to feel like they belong and have the support they need to thrive. See how Goal 2 is being put into practice
